George served in Company I, Wisconsin 29th Infantry.
He signed up for service on August 14, 1862,
Mustered on September 27, 1862 (at age 28),
and mustered out on June 22, 1865.
His service record shows that he was
married (to Lucy Bethel) at the
time of his enlistment.
Lucy Anserson’s nephew is in possession
of at least one button from George’s uniform.
